Mayfield Villages, founded by Audley Group, Buckingham Pools’ long-standing client, have completed their first-ever retirement village in the southwest of Watford City Centre, Hertfordshire. Mayfield Watford retirement village, now open, owns an exclusive Buckingham Pools health and wellness suite, including an indoor swimming pool, sauna and steam room. 

The 12m x 6m pool installation features two counter-current devices with adjustability to the desired setting, from easy paddling to a complete crawl, offering bathers a versatile swim experience. Fittings such as water skimmers, grilles and handrails are installed in stainless steel for an immaculate finish. Thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows with the help of the limestone-effect porcelain finishes, the pool is flooded with light with a bright and airy feel, contrasting with the outdoor architecture and landscape. 

Sauna conditions of 80° to 90°C and between 20 to 30% RH whilst steam room in the region of 40 to 45°C with virtually 100% humidity. As a result, this differs in their health and well-being benefits. From cleansing the pores, and skin cell rejuvenation to aiding breathing, users can experience the relaxation area according to their specific needs. In addition, the colour-changing LED lighting adds the extra ‘wow factor’ in both wellness facilities and is expressly considered to attract users.
