Buckingham Pools worked closely with Silcott Dawson and Speller Metcalf to build an eight-lane 25-metre competition pool and an 18-metre multi-depth learner pool for Worcester Council’s flagship leisure centre.

The main competition pool is finished to ASA Standards and incorporates a complete Swiss Timing system with OSB11 starter blocks to facilitate Olympic standard competitions. With safety at the forefront, the Pool is fitted with an integral underwater camera system, remotely accessible by pool staff at all times. The learner pool is equipped with a state-of-the-art moving floor allowing multiple water depths to tailor the Pool to the ages and abilities of the bathers.

The high-water table on the site presented a design challenge, overcome by tying both pool shells into a piling system.

With independent chemical rooms and bulk chemical storage systems, the filtration plant incorporates fully automated dosing with a web-link control and UV technology to reduce chemical consumption and enhance the swimming environment.
